celebrity search in Oxford

I'm at Green's cafe in Oxford. And I'm sitting next to Fabio. Or Fabio's British cousin.

In other news, I'm going to Cork, Ireland next week. Seriously, my self-gratification system is pretty efficient. I've wanted to go to Ireland almost my entire life - the result of 12 years of Irish-Catholic schooling. Ireland has always been on top of my travel list, ahead of Australia, Alaska and Montenegro. More couchsurfers and virtualtourists... Who would have thought a former cheerleader would turn into such an internet geek!

Received a care package from my folks back in NY. I got my bluetooth headsets for both my UK and US phones, as well as my digi voice recorder. Now I get to walk the streets of Oxford with my US headset in one ear, my UK headset in the other ear, my iPod touch headphones strung around my neck and my voice recorder attached to my wrist. I am connected, hooked up and wired in just about every way a person can be. I'm basically a breathing robot. With bouncy hair. :)

In return, I shipped two boxes back to NY (I feng shui'd my place after returning from Karlsruhe). I ended up paying $200 USD to ship both boxes because they were a measly 2 kilos overweight! Paying that was painful. Am regretting that move hugely.

Question to ponder: Who actually feels sexy upon waking up in the morning? Seriously. I'm just groggy and rather delirious in the morning. Or maybe semi-consciousness *is* sexy... More investigative work on the topic is much needed, methinks.

Beamish - not Guinness!

Well...I'm going to Ireland. :)

Therese-Heather...thinks you're such a Klugscheißer.

Back from Karlsruhe. The most intense weekend of my life. I traveled to another country...for a weekend of partying. Fabulous.

Couchsurfing, VirtualTourist, champagne, obstler, bretzels, vodka tonics and 80s dance music, the Grease soundtrack, pizza and anchovies, climbing castles, apothecaries, lucky in love footprints, leaving my mark across the world, baseball caps and tshirts, being followed around by a camera crew, paparazzi syndrome, tower stairs, German BBQs, apfelschloss, Ryanair, more bretzels, drunk Danes and rowdy Americans, fish jelly, cobblestones and running between thunderstorms...

Met some fabulous people, met some sketchy people, fell in and out of love, got drunk, saw the sun rise, watched a soccer game (in life and on TV), was on TV, felt fabulous, felt shitty, felt geeky and sexy...it was definitely a weekend for the books.

However fabulous my jetsetting was, I'm still homesick for New York...

Shhh...it's a secret.

P.S.

I'm totally nervous about this show. But shh! Don't tell anyone...

Information Overload

I'm on total information overload at the moment. Have been e-mailing back and forth with the producers of the show, with the camera crew, arranging meeting times and filming schedules. Have been in constant contact with the Virtual Tourist staff, with my Couchsurfing hosts, trying to arrange and appease a million different itineraries.

So far, here's what we've got:

I arrive in Karlsruhe at 9pm on Thursday evening, 29 May. Taking the bus into Karlsruhe where my first Couchsurfing host will pick me up from the main train station. Friday, 9AM, meet with the camera crew at the main train station. 9:45 AM, meet with the Speyer tour group. In Speyer until 6pm. Dinner at Badisch Brauhaus at 7PM - camera crew in tow. Hopefully, will finish up by 9PM.

Basically, it'll be a 12-hour day of filming. Oy, oy, and oy.

This doesn't give me much time to hang out with my first CS host.

Saturday, there is a tour of Karlsruhe - which I may or may not be joining, depending on how wiped I am from Friday. Saturday evening, I have to attend the "castle" dinner at 8pm. And then my CS host is throwing a BBQ/Party at his place that night, which will be the chaser to my VT shot.

Sunday - I rest. Staying with my second Couchsurfing host. A laid back day, including an open mic night.

Monday - I rest some more. And I head back to London

I am definitely not looking forward to tomorrow, Friday or Saturday. Hopefully I can sleep tonight!

Oh, and for those who are interested, the show is called "My..." on Deutsche Welle. [http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,2142,9822,00.html]

All of this travel talk makes me just want to go take a nap...hmm. What a brilliant idea. :)
